Miriam Makeba (1932-2008)

Those of us who remember her will miss her.
Miriam Makeba was a legend. They called her Mama Africa.

Ofeibea Quist-Arcton's remembrance on NPR was the first report I heard.
Here is a link to a narrative report, but I recommend clicking on the audio link to hear another wonderful voice, that of Ofeibea Quist-Arcton, my most recent personal favorite among Public Radio's staff, as she recalls the life and legacy of Miriam Makeba.
At the same link is another excellent report from Talk of the Nation.
