A few weeks ago I compared mega-churches with gated communities. Jim Gilbert pointed out in his comment that small churches can also be closed off from a greater community. After thinking about it, I decided he not only has a point, but his point is probably more true of small churches than larger ones. A case can be made that being more closed could be a contributing factor to remaining small in membership numbers.
True or not, it seems to me that the larger the flock, the greater the responsibilities of the shepherd.
I just hope that this is an abberation.
